DJ Irwan was born on June 26th, 1980 in Amstelveen, The Netherlands. At the age of 15 he started his career as a DJ at the Asian Parties in the Roxy, which at that time was one of the best-known clubs in Holland. Although he has been dj-ing for quite a while now, DJ Irwan is often called “the rising star” of the Dutch urban-scene. Irwan can be found at Holland’s hottest Urban clubs almost every weekend, such as The Powerzone, Sinners, Challenge and VakZuid and besides that, Irwan is a resident dj for several urban parties including Timeless, one of the parties that started the whole “urban-hype” a few years ago. DJ Irwan is also frequently booked for international gigs, where cities as Ibiza, Lloret de Mar, Jakarta, London and Zurich are among his favourite hotspots.
Also, on the major (dance-)festivals and urban-events throughout the country Irwan is often added to the dj line-up: In 2003 and 2004 he was part of the FFWD Heineken Dance Parade in Rotterdam (one of Europe’s biggest street-parades), Irwan was a headliner for the urban-area at Dance Valley twice (2003, 2004) and he showed his skillz during Innercity 2003 and Ambassador in the Amsterdam Arena.
Besides being a DJ, Irwan is also a very talented singer. It’s a fact that he is also known as one of the few DJ’s (if not the only one) who adds some lyrical flavors to his set, which creates a unique vibe: spinning, scratching and singing, while bringing the crowd to higher levels. As a result of his vocal skillz, Irwan’s first single will be officially released in the near future: a remake of Usher’s “You Make Me Wanna”.
As recognition of his great achievements DJ Irwan recently has been nominated for a MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Award in the category Best Urban DJ. Thus, he may call himself one of the best urban DJ’s of Holland, and Europe as well.
